Jump! The Game

jump

Jump! is a student game project set in a cartoony environment. The game rules were kept simple and easy to understand. Up to 16 players can fight online against each other. The player has the ability to defeat other players by jumping on them. The player with the highest amount of kills wins the match – easy and simple deathmatch rules.

The game is developed by Michael Palmer, Florian Oeser and myself. I was responsible for the art creation of the whole project.

Art design

My duties encompass the visual feeling of the game. I am responsible for modeling, texturing, animation and rigging as well.

The graphic style is an allusion of a cartoony land which makes the game more lively. There are no real physical rules for the environment which grants me the architectural freedom.

As you can see there are no real massrules, the pillars can hold huge masses which would be in real nature not possible.
On the texturing side I used  saturated colors,  high contrasts and pre-made textures  to achieve the final look and feel of the game.
The characterdesign was pretty straight forward.

My main vision was to create the believability of strong characters without any unnecessary details.

Jump Beta!

I created this movie to represent the current state of development in February 09.

I really enjoyed working on this project and I believe it was a important experience to progress as an artist. Feel free to visit Florian’s Blog for further Information about the Game.
